City of Spark ProclaimationWHEREAS, companion animals have many amazing effects on humans as well as play a vital role as helpers to the handicapped; and

WHEREAS, pets may alleviate depression, provide solace to the lonely, facilitate psycho-therapy, socialize criminals, lower blood pressure, and ease the social pain of aging in our society; and

WHEREAS, PetFolio Magazine, established in 1997 as a free, bi-monthly magazine serves northern Nevada, to inform, educate, and aid communication for animal lovers and animal-aid organizations; and

WHEREAS, PetFolio raises awareness and support for animals in Nevada through its print publication and annual Artown event, Art Paws.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GENO R. MARTINI, Mayor of the City of Sparks, Nevada, do hereby proclaim July 17, 2011

PetFolio's Art Paws Day.

I encourage our residents to join me in commending PetFolio Magazine for its role in hosting eleven annual Art Paws festivals, contributing funds to our local animal-aid organizations, promoting proper pet ownership, and helping improve the lives of our community's animals.

City of Reno ProclaimationWHEREAS, during the month-long Artown festival, PetFolio Magazine will be holding their 11th Annual Art Paws, at McKinley Arts & Cultural Center, on July 17, 2011; and

WHEREAS, the Art Paws event paints a pet-friendly picture of Downtown Reno, provides a festival environment where expert knowledge and awareness is shared with pet owners. PetFolio is helping to enrich and save the lives of the animals we love. PetFolio’s Art Paws is dedicated to the animal world, bettering the lives of both pet owners and pets alike.

WHEREAS, PetFolio Magazine was established in 1997 as a free, bi-monthly magazine serving northern Nevada. Now in its 14th year of print, PetFolio is designed to inform, educate, and serve as a communication network for animal lovers across the region. PetFolio helps to raise funds for local animal rescue organizations in Nevada through its print publication and annual Artown event, Art Paws.

WHEREAS, the celebration of Art Paws marks a high point of pet interest in our community: we display how pets represent protection, companionship, and loyalty to a family. Help us celebrate the comfort and enjoyment a pet brings to its owner’s life as well as the many rewards that pets bring to the human race as a whole.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert A. Cashell, Sr., Mayor of the City of Reno, Nevada, do hereby proclaim

July 17, 2011,

In and for the City of Reno, I urge all citizens to give recognition and appreciation to the PetFolio Magazine for educating others about animals and their importance to our community and state.
